The Evening
A Live 20-Piece Band
Trumpets, trombones, saxophones, and a rhythm section, playing the songs of the forties the way they were meant to be heard: in the same room.
Swing Lessons Included
Dance instructors teach the steps at the start of the night. Nobody needs to arrive knowing how.
1940s Formal
Uniforms, suits and ties, knee-length dresses. Vintage if you have it. Your Sunday best does the job.
Why we dance
Not Strangers for Long
Before the band plays a note, something better happens. In the weeks leading up to the dance, students from the Family Leadership Academy sit down with local veterans to hear their stories firsthand. Where they served. What they carried home. Why they went in the first place.
On the night of the dance, each student introduces their veteran to their friends. Hands get shaken. Stories get told again. By the last song, these are not strangers sharing a dance floor.
Spread the Word
Print it, pin it up, or better yet, hand it to a veteran you know.
